The practice landscape continues to change in Ottawa, with incoming and retiring rheumatologists alike. At the end of 2019, Dr. Kathleen Davis and Dr. Susie Duff both retired after serving the greater Ottawa community for many decades.
In 2019, Dr. Krista Rostom, Dr. Kyle Walker and Dr. Eilish McConville, who graduated from the University of Ottawa, joined the Ottawa community. Dr. McConville is part-time with the University of Ottawa and has a particular interest in MSK ultrasound and transition of care from pediadrics to adult rheumatology. Dr. Walker provides care in Ottawa, Almonte, and Carleton Place. Dr. Angela Montgomery re-located from Toronto to community practice in Ottawa.
While 2020 has brought its own set of challenges, the good news is that Dr. Kristen Noges, from the University of Ottawa, and Dr. Shannon Meilleur, from McGill University also joined the Ottawa community of Rheumatologists. Dr. Julie D’Aust joined the Ottawa Hospital in July as part of a DIME medical education research fellowship while she completes a Masters in medical education through Maastricht University. Her primary interest is medical education.
Finally, Dr. Nancy Maltez will join the faculty of the University of Ottawa in early 2021. Her area of interest is stem cell transplantation as a treatment for systemic sclerosis. She is a local representative for the CanRIO network and has an interest in the rheumatologic complications of checkpoint inhibitors.
