A recent OMA newsletter outlined the work that has been undertaken to address members’ concerns related to requests that they are receiving from dentists on shared patients. The OMA worked with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario to clarify expectations around these requests. They have created a web page that outlines the expectations of physicians and dentists. It includes a template letter, accessible from your EMR, that you can use for responses.  We wanted to flag this to your attention in case you missed it as some ORA members had also expressed the same levels of concern.

One of our very own members, Dr. Tooba Ali, also worked on a response letter that is more specific to biologics and rheumatology patients. We have attached it here in case you wish to use it:
