ORA Informatics Newsletter October 2021
A major challenge facing rheumatologists is administrative burden – more time spent on screens means less time to help our patients. As part of the ORA’s long term mission to modernize EMR experiences for rheumatologists, the Ontario Rheumatic Diseases Evaluation Registry Project (ORDER) is developing new technology solutions to make it easier to use and document patient information in our EMRs, while increasing the insights to improve our practice and patient outcomes.
The ORDER Project
In its first offering, ORDER will deliver 2 key solutions to Ontario rheumatologists. The first is a rheumatologist-facing dynamic patient viewer to display historical and current data and collect the current visit information in as few clicks as possible, all on the same screen. The second is an outcomes dashboard, displaying key information and metrics about how our practice and patients are doing.
Fall 2021 Project Update
The ORDER project is rolling forward! We have partnered with user experience-oriented software developers to improve the EMR experience for rheumatologists. Development work is expected to begin in late October 2021, with early beta testing before the end of the year. In 2022, the ORA will announce the early release of the new solutions for rheumatologists along with an onboarding program to make it easy to take advantage of these new tools. Watch for this information to be released, or better yet – get involved and help to design the tools we need at the point of care to make our work as rheumatologists more enjoyable and improve outcomes for rheumatology patients.
The ORDER project is an ORA member-driven initiative – all members’ input is welcome! Please send us your thoughts and ideas at admin@ontariorheum.ca. More information is available on the ORA website at www.ontariorheum.ca.
